The value of Poker Position

Texas Holdem is all about people and seating. All knowledgeable Hold’em players concur that seating in no limit Holdem is critically important. Playing your hole cards in late spot could be a whole lot more beneficial than in starting poker spot. This is due to the fact that a whole lot more information is amassed prior to acting.

i.e., I played in a $1-$2 no limit cash game at a local casino. I came in holding 2, 9 unsuited on the dealer marker, so I could partake in some fun. Flop came down A-A-4. A gambler in starting position laid a $15 wager. Two entrants fold and it was my turn to act. I should have dropped out, but his betting felt a tiny bit odd. I ID’d this contender as a weak-tight individual, and normally if he held the biggest hand he would only check, so I called.

The turn showed with a 7, making it A-A-4-7. My challenger laid another bet of $20. I hesitated a bit, but took a chance to re-raise a further $30thirty dollars on top of his $20. He folds and I won the chips.

Sitting at last spot allows you an insight into where you sit by watching how gamblers react and wager. On the other hand, people at starting spot may use their poker spot to check-raise the late positioned aggressors and trap them later at the end. In Hold’em, both spots, late and early must be played cautiously.
