No-Limit Hold’em Poker- Who is Phil Ivey?
Phil Ivey has been labeled as the greatest poker competitor on the globe by most of the top-ranked pros. Phil Ivey was born in Riverside, CA and relocated to NJ before reaching the age of 1. His grandpa taught him penny-ante 5-Card Stud poker. From that point on, he was hooked on poker and wished to discover whatever he could about the game. Phil routinely told his grandparents that he was going to be a professional poker player. Phil didn’t allow the negative comments from other people kill his goal of becoming one of the greatest poker players on the planet.
He began playing seriously after getting a fake ID with the name of Jerome. He practiced his techniques at the poker rooms of Atlantic City. The initial few years for him were a learning period and coming away with a win was not a regular outcome at the time. Phil became known at the 2000 World Series of Poker when he made 2 final tables and won his first WSOP bracelet, in a two dollar, five hundred Pot-Limit Omaha game. At the closing table he destroyed many of the better known professionals which includes "Amarillo Slim" Preston, David "Devilfish" Ulliot, and Phil Hellmuth, Jr.
Phil decided to take his game to the successive level and headed out west to Vegas. Phil continues to compete in in "The Big Game" at the Bellagio with the best players in the world. Ivey credits his success to hard work and an eternal passion for the game of poker. Phil says that he is learning every single day and is very abashed about his accomplishments. Phil knows he makes errors in each session of poker and always aspires to improve.
Although Ivey has come first in some big-time tournaments, he likes winning money games on a normal basis.
