No-Limit Hold’em Poker- Who is Phil Ivey?
Phil Ivey has been branded as the greatest poker player on the planet by most of the top pros. Phil Ivey was born in Riverside, CA and moved to NJ before his first birthday. His grandfather showed him to penny-ante Five-Card Stud poker. From that point on, he was addicted to poker and wished to learn everything he possibly could about poker. He routinely told his grandparents that he wanted to be a professional poker player. He didn’t permit the negative feedback from others annihilate his goal of being one of the best poker competitors on the planet.
Phil started playing intently after getting a fake ID with the name of Jerome. He honed his skills at the poker rooms of Atlantic City. The beginning few years for Phil were a learning experience and coming away with a win was not a common thing at the time. He became known at the 2000 WSOP when he made two final tables and won his first WSOP bracelet, in a $2, five hundred Pot-Limit Omaha match. At the final table he defeated quite a few of the well known professionals including but not limited to "Amarillo Slim" Preston, David "Devilfish" Ulliot, and Phil Hellmuth, Jr.
Phil decided to take his game to the next level and headed out west to Las Vegas. He continues to participate in in "The Big Game" at the Bellagio with the greatest players on the planet. Ivey credits his achievements to dedication and an undying love for the game of poker. Phil says that he’s learning every day and is quite abashed about his success. He knows he makes errors every single session of poker and constantly aspires to get better.
Even though Phil has won some big-time tournaments, he favors winning cash games on a normal basis.
