No-Limit Texas Holdem Poker- Who is Phil Ivey?

Phil Ivey has been labeled as the greatest poker player in the world by quite a few of the top pros. He was born in Riverside, CA and relocated to NJ before his first birthday. His grandfather introduced him to penny-ante Five-Card Stud poker. From then on on, Phil was addicted to poker and wished to pickup anything he could about poker. Phil routinely told his elders that he wanted to be a professional poker player. Phil did not allow the detrimental feedback from others destroy his dream of being one of the greatest poker players on the planet.

He began competing intently after getting a false ID with the name of Jerome. He practiced his abilities at the casinos in Atlantic City. The initial few years for him were a learning experience and coming away with a win was not a common thing at the time. He became known at the 2000 World Series of Poker when he achieved two final tables and won his 1st World Series of Poker bracelet, in a two dollar, 500 Pot-Limit Omaha event. At the final table he defeated many of the well known professionals which includes "Amarillo Slim" Preston, David "Devilfish" Ulliot, and Phil Hellmuth, Jr.

He made a decision to take his skills to the next level and moved out west to Vegas. Phil continues to compete in in "The Big Game" at the Bellagio with the greatest players in the world. Phil credits his success to hard work and an eternal passion for the game of poker. He says that he is learning every single day and is very humble about his accomplishments. He knows he makes errors in each session of poker and constantly strives to get better.

Although Phil has won some big tournaments, he likes winning money games on a normal basis.
