No-Limit Hold’em Poker- Who is Phil Ivey?

Phil Ivey has been referred to as the number one poker contender on the globe by quite a few of the top-ranked pros. Phil was born in Riverside, CA and moved to New Jersey before his first birthday. His grandpa taught Phil one cent-ante Five-Card Stud poker. From that point on, Phil was addicted to poker and wanted to learn whatever he possibly could about the game. Phil routinely told his grandparents that he was going to be a professional poker player. He didn’t let the detrimental comments from others destroy his ambition of being one of the greatest poker players on the planet.

He began playing seriously after getting a false ID by the name of Jerome. He practiced his game at the poker rooms in Atlantic City. The initial number of years for him were a teaching opportunity and coming away with a win was not a regular outcome at the time. He became known at the 2000 WSOP when he made two final tables and won his first World Series of Poker bracelet, in a two dollar, 500 Pot-Limit Omaha game. At the final table he destroyed many of the well known pros including "Amarillo Slim" Preston, David "Devilfish" Ulliot, and Phil Hellmuth, Jr.

He decided to take his game to the successive level and moved out west to Vegas. Phil continues to participate in in "The Big Game" at the Bellagio with the best players in the world. Ivey credits his achievements to discipline and an eternal passion for poker. He says that he’s picking up skills every day and is incredibly abashed about his achievements. He knows he makes blunders in each game of poker and constantly strives to improve.

Despite the fact that Ivey has come first in some big-time tournaments, he favors winning money games on a regular basis.
