No-Limit Hold’em Poker- Who is Phil Ivey?

Phil Ivey has been labeled as the greatest poker competitor in the world by many of the top professionals. He was born in Riverside, CA and relocated to New Jersey before his first birthday. His grandfather taught Phil penny-ante Five-Card Stud poker. From then on on, he was hooked on poker and wished to discover every little thing he could about poker. Phil routinely would tell his parents that he was going to be a professional poker player. Phil didn’t permit the negative comments from other people annihilate his ambition of becoming one of the strongest poker competitors in the world.

Phil started competing intently after acquiring a fake ID by the name of Jerome. He honed his techniques at the poker rooms in Atlantic City. The initial few years for him were a teaching experience and winning wasn’t a common thing at the time. Phil made his mark at the 2000 WSOP when he made two final tables and won his first WSOP bracelet, in a two dollar, 500 Pot-Limit Omaha event. At the last table he destroyed many of the well known pros including but not limited to "Amarillo Slim" Preston, David "Devilfish" Ulliot, and Phil Hellmuth, Jr.

He decided to take his skills to the successive level and moved out west to Las Vegas. Phil continues to participate in in "The Big Game" at the Bellagio with the best players on the planet. Ivey credits his achievements to hard work and an undying passion for poker. Phil says that he is learning every single day and is quite humble about his success. Phil knows he makes errors in each session of poker and constantly strives to get better.

Despite the fact that Phil has come first in some large tournaments, he prefers winning money games on a regular basis.
