Phil Ivey has been branded as the greatest poker player on the globe by quite a few of the top-ranked pros. He was born in Riverside, CA and relocated to NJ before his first birthday. His grandpa taught Phil one cent-ante Five-Card Stud poker. From that point on, he was addicted to poker and wished to learn anything he possibly could about poker. Phil would tell his parents that he was going to be a professional poker player. Phil didn’t allow the negative comments from other people annihilate his dream of being one of the best poker competitors in the world.

Phil began playing intently after acquiring a fake ID by the name of Jerome. He practiced his abilities at the casinos in Atlantic City. The initial few years for Phil were a learning experience and coming away with a win was not a normal outcome at the time. Phil became known at the 2000 WSOP where he made 2 final tables and won his 1st World Series of Poker bracelet, in a $2, five hundred Pot-Limit Omaha match. At the closing table he destroyed quite a few of the better known pros including but not limited to "Amarillo Slim" Preston, David "Devilfish" Ulliot, and Phil Hellmuth, Jr.

He decided to take his skills to the next level and moved out west to Sin City. Phil continues to participate in in "The Big Game" at the Bellagio with the greatest players on the planet. Phil credits his success to hard work and an immeasurable love for the game of poker. He says that he is picking up skills every single day and is quite abashed about his accomplishments. Phil admits to making errors every single session of poker and constantly aspires to get better.

Despite the fact that Ivey has come first in some big-time tournaments, he likes destroying money games on a regular basis.
