NL Texas Hold’em Poker- Who is Phil Ivey?
Phil Ivey has been referred to as the best poker competitor on the planet by quite a few of the top-ranked professionals. He was born in Riverside, CA and relocated to NJ before reaching the age of 1. His papa taught Phil penny-ante 5-Card Stud poker. From that point on, he was hooked on poker and wanted to pickup everything he could about poker. Phil would tell his elders that he was planning on being a professional poker player. Phil did not let the negative comments from other people kill his dream of becoming one of the best poker competitors on the planet.
He started playing seriously after getting a fake ID by the name of Jerome. He honed his abilities at the casinos of Atlantic City. The initial number of years for Phil were a teaching period and coming away with a win wasn’t a regular outcome at the time. Phil became known at the 2000 World Series of Poker when he made two final tables and came away with his first World Series of Poker bracelet, in a $2, 500 Pot-Limit Omaha game. At the final table he destroyed a number of the better known pros including but not limited to "Amarillo Slim" Preston, David "Devilfish" Ulliot, and Phil Hellmuth, Jr.
He made a decision to take his skills to the successive level and moved out west to Sin City. He continues to play in "The Big Game" at the Bellagio with the greatest players in the world. Phil credits his achievements to discipline and a continuing passion for poker. He states that he is picking up skills every single day and is quite abashed about his accomplishments. Phil knows he makes errors every single game of poker and always aspires to get better.
Despite the fact that Ivey has won some large tournaments, he likes winning money games on a regular basis.
