No-Limit Holdem Poker- Who is Phil Ivey?

Phil Ivey has been referred to as the best poker competitor in the world by most of the top-ranked pros. Phil Ivey was born in Riverside, CA and moved to Jersey before reaching the age of 1. His papa introduced him to one cent-ante Five-Card Stud poker. From then on on, Phil was hooked on poker and wished to pickup everything he could about the game. Phil routinely would tell his elders that he wanted to be a professional poker player. He did not permit the negative comments from other people destroy his ambition of becoming one of the best poker players in the world.

He started playing seriously after getting a false ID by the name of Jerome. He honed his abilities at the casinos in Atlantic City. The beginning few years for him were a teaching experience and winning wasn’t a regular thing at the time. Phil made his mark at the 2000 WSOP when he made 2 final tables and won his first WSOP bracelet, in a $2, five hundred Pot-Limit Omaha game. At the closing table he destroyed a number of the well known professionals including but not limited to "Amarillo Slim" Preston, David "Devilfish" Ulliot, and Phil Hellmuth, Jr.

He made a decision to take his game to the next level and moved out west to Sin City. Phil continues to play in "The Big Game" at the Bellagio with the greatest players in the world. Phil credits his achievements to hard work and an eternal passion for poker. He says that he’s picking up skills every single day and is very abashed about his accomplishments. He knows he makes mistakes every single game of poker and constantly aspires to improve.

Although Ivey has won some big-time tournaments, he favors winning money games on a regular basis.
