No-Limit Hold’em Poker- Who is Phil Ivey?
Phil Ivey has been branded as the number one poker competitor on the globe by most of the top professionals. He was born in Riverside, CA and moved to Jersey before his first birthday. His papa taught Phil one cent-ante 5-Card Stud poker. From then on on, Phil was hooked on poker and wished to discover anything he could about poker. Phil routinely told his parents that he wanted to be a professional poker player. Phil didn’t let the detrimental comments from others kill his ambition of being one of the greatest poker competitors on the planet.
Phil began competing intently after getting a fake ID by the name of Jerome. He honed his game at the casinos in Atlantic City. The first number of years for him were a teaching experience and coming away with a win was not a common thing at the time. Phil made his mark at the 2000 WSOP where he made 2 final tables and won his 1st WSOP bracelet, in a two dollar, 500 Pot-Limit Omaha event. At the last table he destroyed a number of the better known pros which includes "Amarillo Slim" Preston, David "Devilfish" Ulliot, and Phil Hellmuth, Jr.
He decided to take his skills to the next level and moved out west to Sin City. Phil continues to compete in in "The Big Game" at the Bellagio with the greatest players on the planet. Ivey credits his achievements to dedication and an undying love for the game of poker. Phil says that he is picking up skills every single day and is incredibly humble about his achievements. He admits to making errors every single game of poker and always strives to get better.
Despite the fact that Phil has won some big-time tournaments, he likes destroying cash games on a regular basis.
