NL Texas Hold’em Poker- Who is Phil Ivey?
Phil Ivey has been referred to as the best poker contender on the globe by many of the top professionals. He was born in Riverside, CA and relocated to Jersey before his first birthday. His grandpa taught Phil penny-ante 5-Card Stud poker. From then on on, Phil was addicted to poker and wished to discover everything he could about poker. Phil routinely told his grandparents that he was planning on being a professional poker player. He didn’t allow the detrimental comments from others kill his dream of becoming one of the strongest poker players in the world.
He began competing seriously after acquiring a false ID by the name of Jerome. He practiced his skills at the casinos of Atlantic City. The beginning few years for Phil were a learning period and winning was not a normal outcome at the time. Phil became known at the 2000 WSOP where he made 2 final tables and won his first WSOP bracelet, in a $2, 500 Pot-Limit Omaha game. At the closing table he defeated many of the well known professionals including but not limited to "Amarillo Slim" Preston, David "Devilfish" Ulliot, and Phil Hellmuth, Jr.
Phil decided to take his skills to the next level and headed out west to Las Vegas. Phil continues to participate in in "The Big Game" at the Bellagio with the best players on the planet. Phil credits his achievements to hard work and an eternal love for the game of poker. Phil states that he is learning every single day and is quite abashed about his success. He admits to making blunders in each session of poker and constantly aspires to get better.
Despite the fact that Ivey has won some big-time tournaments, he likes destroying cash games on a normal basis.
