NL Texas Hold’em Poker- Who is Phil Ivey?

Phil Ivey has been labeled as the number one poker contender on the planet by most of the top-ranked professionals. Phil was born in Riverside, CA and relocated to Jersey before his first birthday. His grandpa taught him one cent-ante Five-Card Stud poker. From then on on, he was hooked on poker and wished to learn every little thing he could about poker. Phil routinely told his grandparents that he wanted to be a professional poker player. He did not permit the negative feedback from others annihilate his ambition of being one of the greatest poker players on the planet.

Phil began competing seriously after getting a false ID with the name of Jerome. He honed his skills at the casinos in Atlantic City. The first number of years for him were a teaching experience and winning was not a normal thing at the time. He became known at the 2000 World Series of Poker where he made 2 final tables and won his 1st WSOP bracelet, in a two dollar, five hundred Pot-Limit Omaha game. At the closing table he defeated quite a few of the better known professionals which includes "Amarillo Slim" Preston, David "Devilfish" Ulliot, and Phil Hellmuth, Jr.

He made a decision to take his game to the successive level and headed out west to Sin City. He continues to participate in in "The Big Game" at the Bellagio with the best players in the world. Phil credits his success to dedication and an eternal love for poker. Phil states that he’s learning every day and is incredibly abashed about his accomplishments. Phil admits to making errors every single session of poker and always strives to improve.

Even though Ivey has come first in some big tournaments, he favors destroying cash games on a normal basis.
