No-Limit Texas Hold’em Poker- Who is Phil Ivey?
Phil Ivey has been branded as the number one poker contender on the planet by most of the top-ranked professionals. He was born in Riverside, CA and relocated to Jersey before his first birthday. His grandfather taught him one cent-ante 5-Card Stud poker. From that point on, he was addicted to poker and wished to pickup everything he possibly could about poker. Phil routinely told his grandparents that he was going to be a professional poker player. Phil didn’t let the negative comments from other people destroy his dream of being one of the greatest poker players in the world.
He started playing intently after acquiring a false ID with the name of Jerome. He honed his game at the poker rooms in Atlantic City. The beginning few years for him were a teaching period and coming away with a win wasn’t a regular outcome at the time. He made his mark at the 2000 WSOP when he made 2 final tables and came away with his first World Series of Poker bracelet, in a two dollar, five hundred Pot-Limit Omaha event. At the last table he destroyed a number of the well known professionals including but not limited to "Amarillo Slim" Preston, David "Devilfish" Ulliot, and Phil Hellmuth, Jr.
Phil made a decision to take his game to the successive level and moved out west to Vegas. He continues to compete in in "The Big Game" at the Bellagio with the greatest players in the world. Phil credits his achievements to discipline and an eternal love for the game of poker. Phil states that he is learning every day and is incredibly humble about his achievements. He knows he makes errors in each game of poker and always aspires to improve.
Despite the fact that Phil has come first in some big-time tournaments, he prefers winning cash games on a normal basis.
