No-Limit Holdem Poker- Who is Phil Ivey?
Phil Ivey has been referred to as the best poker competitor in the world by quite a few of the top-ranked pros. Phil Ivey was born in Riverside, CA and moved to NJ before his first birthday. His grandfather taught Phil penny-ante Five-Card Stud poker. From then on on, he was hooked on poker and wanted to learn every little thing he possibly could about the game. He routinely told his elders that he was going to be a professional poker player. He didn’t permit the detrimental comments from others destroy his goal of becoming one of the best poker players on the planet.
He began playing intently after acquiring a false ID with the name of Jerome. He practiced his game at the poker rooms of Atlantic City. The first few years for him were a teaching period and winning wasn’t a common outcome at the time. Phil made his mark at the 2000 World Series of Poker when he made two final tables and won his first WSOP bracelet, in a two dollar, 500 Pot-Limit Omaha match. At the last table he destroyed quite a few of the better known pros including "Amarillo Slim" Preston, David "Devilfish" Ulliot, and Phil Hellmuth, Jr.
Phil made a decision to take his game to the successive level and headed out west to Sin City. He continues to play in "The Big Game" at the Bellagio with the greatest players in the world. Ivey credits his achievements to discipline and an immeasurable love for poker. He says that he’s learning every day and is quite humble about his success. He knows he makes mistakes in each game of poker and constantly aspires to get better.
Even though Phil has come first in some big tournaments, he favors destroying money games on a regular basis.
