NL Holdem Poker- Who is Phil Ivey?

Phil Ivey has been referred to as the greatest poker competitor on the globe by quite a few of the top pros. He was born in Riverside, CA and relocated to Jersey before reaching the age of one. His grandfather taught Phil one cent-ante Five-Card Stud poker. From that point on, he was hooked on poker and wished to learn whatever he could about poker. He would tell his parents that he wanted to be a professional poker player. He didn’t let the detrimental comments from other people annihilate his goal of becoming one of the greatest poker players in the world.

Phil began competing seriously after getting a false ID with the name of Jerome. He sharpened his game at the casinos in Atlantic City. The beginning number of years for him were a teaching opportunity and winning was not a common outcome at the time. Phil made his mark at the 2000 WSOP where he made 2 final tables and came away with his 1st World Series of Poker bracelet, in a two dollar, 500 Pot-Limit Omaha match. At the final table he destroyed quite a few of the well known pros which includes "Amarillo Slim" Preston, David "Devilfish" Ulliot, and Phil Hellmuth, Jr.

Phil decided to take his game to the successive level and headed out west to Vegas. Phil continues to play in "The Big Game" at the Bellagio with the greatest players in the world. Phil credits his success to discipline and an eternal passion for poker. Phil states that he’s learning every single day and is quite abashed about his achievements. He knows he makes blunders in each game of poker and always aspires to improve.

Even though Phil has won some large tournaments, he prefers winning money games on a normal basis.
