No-Limit Hold’em Poker- Who is Phil Ivey?

Phil Ivey has been referred to as the best poker competitor on the globe by quite a few of the top professionals. Phil was born in Riverside, CA and relocated to NJ before reaching the age of 1. His grandfather taught him one cent-ante 5-Card Stud poker. From then on on, Phil was addicted to poker and wanted to discover anything he possibly could about poker. He would tell his grandparents that he was planning on being a professional poker player. He didn’t allow the negative comments from other people annihilate his goal of becoming one of the greatest poker players in the world.

He began competing seriously after getting a fake ID with the name of Jerome. He sharpened his techniques at the poker rooms in Atlantic City. The beginning number of years for Phil were a teaching experience and coming away with a win wasn’t a normal outcome at the time. Phil made his mark at the 2000 World Series of Poker where he made 2 final tables and came away with his 1st World Series of Poker bracelet, in a $2, 500 Pot-Limit Omaha event. At the last table he destroyed a number of the better known professionals including "Amarillo Slim" Preston, David "Devilfish" Ulliot, and Phil Hellmuth, Jr.

Phil decided to take his game to the next level and headed out west to Las Vegas. Phil continues to participate in in "The Big Game" at the Bellagio with the greatest players on the planet. Phil credits his success to dedication and an eternal love for poker. Phil states that he is learning every day and is quite abashed about his achievements. Phil admits to making errors in each game of poker and always aspires to improve.

Although Ivey has won some large tournaments, he favors destroying money games on a regular basis.
