NL Hold’em Poker- Who is Phil Ivey?
Phil Ivey has been branded as the number one poker competitor in the world by most of the top pros. Phil was born in Riverside, CA and moved to Jersey before reaching the age of one. His grandpa showed him to penny-ante 5-Card Stud poker. From then on on, Phil was hooked on poker and wanted to discover every little thing he possibly could about poker. Phil routinely told his parents that he wanted to be a professional poker player. He did not permit the detrimental comments from others destroy his dream of being one of the strongest poker competitors on the planet.
He started playing intently after getting a fake ID with the name of Jerome. He practiced his game at the poker rooms in Atlantic City. The initial few years for Phil were a teaching experience and coming away with a win was not a normal thing at the time. Phil made his mark at the 2000 World Series of Poker when he made two final tables and came away with his first WSOP bracelet, in a two dollar, five hundred Pot-Limit Omaha game. At the final table he defeated a number of the well known professionals which includes "Amarillo Slim" Preston, David "Devilfish" Ulliot, and Phil Hellmuth, Jr.
He decided to take his game to the next level and moved out west to Vegas. He continues to participate in in "The Big Game" at the Bellagio with the best players on the planet. Phil credits his achievements to dedication and an immeasurable passion for the game of poker. Phil says that he’s picking up skills every single day and is quite abashed about his accomplishments. Phil knows he makes errors every single session of poker and constantly strives to get better.
Although Phil has won some big tournaments, he prefers winning money games on a normal basis.
