NL Texas Hold’em Poker- Who is Phil Ivey?
Phil Ivey has been branded as the number one poker contender on the planet by many of the top professionals. Phil Ivey was born in Riverside, CA and moved to New Jersey before reaching turning one. His grandfather taught Phil one cent-ante 5-Card Stud poker. From then on on, Phil was addicted to poker and wished to discover anything he could about poker. Phil routinely told his grandparents that he was going to be a professional poker player. Phil did not let the negative comments from others annihilate his dream of being one of the strongest poker competitors in the world.
Phil began competing seriously after getting a fake ID with the name of Jerome. He sharpened his abilities at the casinos in Atlantic City. The initial number of years for Phil were a teaching period and coming away with a win wasn’t a normal outcome at the time. Phil became known at the 2000 WSOP where he made 2 final tables and came away with his 1st WSOP bracelet, in a two dollar, five hundred Pot-Limit Omaha game. At the closing table he defeated many of the well known pros which includes "Amarillo Slim" Preston, David "Devilfish" Ulliot, and Phil Hellmuth, Jr.
He made a decision to take his skills to the successive level and headed out west to Las Vegas. He continues to participate in in "The Big Game" at the Bellagio with the best players on the planet. Ivey credits his success to dedication and an eternal love for poker. Phil states that he is learning every single day and is quite abashed about his success. Phil admits to making blunders in each game of poker and always aspires to get better.
Despite the fact that Ivey has come first in some big tournaments, he prefers winning cash games on a regular basis.
