No-Limit Hold’em Poker- Who is Phil Ivey?

Phil Ivey has been branded as the best poker contender on the planet by quite a few of the top professionals. He was born in Riverside, CA and moved to Jersey before his first birthday. His grandpa taught him one cent-ante 5-Card Stud poker. From that point on, he was hooked on poker and wanted to pickup whatever he could about poker. Phil would tell his elders that he wanted to be a professional poker player. Phil did not let the negative comments from other people kill his dream of being one of the best poker players on the planet.

Phil began competing intently after getting a fake ID by the name of Jerome. He sharpened his abilities at the casinos in Atlantic City. The beginning number of years for him were a learning opportunity and winning was not a common thing at the time. Phil made his mark at the 2000 WSOP where he made two final tables and came away with his 1st World Series of Poker bracelet, in a $2, 500 Pot-Limit Omaha game. At the last table he defeated many of the well known professionals including "Amarillo Slim" Preston, David "Devilfish" Ulliot, and Phil Hellmuth, Jr.

He decided to take his game to the next level and moved out west to Las Vegas. Phil continues to participate in in "The Big Game" at the Bellagio with the best players in the world. Ivey credits his achievements to hard work and an immeasurable love for the game of poker. Phil states that he’s picking up skills every single day and is incredibly humble about his accomplishments. He admits to making blunders in each session of poker and constantly aspires to improve.

Despite the fact that Ivey has won some big-time tournaments, he favors winning money games on a regular basis.
