Phil Ivey has been referred to as the best poker competitor in the world by quite a few of the top pros. He was born in Riverside, CA and moved to Jersey before his first birthday. His papa taught Phil penny-ante 5-Card Stud poker. From that point on, Phil was hooked on poker and wanted to learn every little thing he could about poker. He routinely told his grandparents that he wanted to be a professional poker player. He began playing seriously after acquiring a fake ID with the name of Jerome. He sharpened his techniques at the casinos of Atlantic City. He made his mark at the 2000 World Series of Poker where he made two final tables and came away with his 1st World Series of Poker bracelet, in a $2, 500 Pot-Limit Omaha event. He decided to take his skills to the successive level and headed out west to Vegas. He continues to participate in in "The Big Game" at the Bellagio with the best players on the planet. Ivey credits his success to discipline and an undying passion for poker. He says that he’s picking up skills every single day and is incredibly humble about his achievements. Phil knows he makes errors every single game of poker and always aspires to improve.
