NL Hold’em Poker- Who is Phil Ivey?
Phil Ivey has been branded as the greatest poker player on the globe by most of the top pros. He was born in Riverside, CA and relocated to Jersey before reaching turning one. His papa taught Phil one cent-ante 5-Card Stud poker. From that point on, he was addicted to poker and wished to discover anything he possibly could about poker. Phil would tell his elders that he wanted to be a professional poker player. Phil did not allow the detrimental feedback from other people kill his dream of becoming one of the best poker players in the world.
He began competing seriously after acquiring a fake ID with the name of Jerome. He honed his abilities at the poker rooms in Atlantic City. The first few years for Phil were a learning experience and coming away with a win was not a normal outcome at the time. He became known at the 2000 WSOP where he made two final tables and came away with his first World Series of Poker bracelet, in a $2, five hundred Pot-Limit Omaha game. At the last table he destroyed a number of the well known pros including but not limited to "Amarillo Slim" Preston, David "Devilfish" Ulliot, and Phil Hellmuth, Jr.
Phil decided to take his skills to the next level and moved out west to Vegas. He continues to compete in in "The Big Game" at the Bellagio with the greatest players in the world. Phil credits his success to hard work and an immeasurable passion for the game of poker. He states that he’s learning every single day and is very humble about his accomplishments. He admits to making mistakes in each game of poker and constantly strives to get better.
Despite the fact that Phil has come first in some big tournaments, he likes winning cash games on a regular basis.
