Phil Ivey has been branded as the number one poker player on the planet by most of the top-ranked professionals. Phil was born in Riverside, CA and moved to NJ before reaching turning one. His papa taught him one cent-ante Five-Card Stud poker. From then on on, he was addicted to poker and wished to discover whatever he possibly could about the game. He routinely told his parents that he was planning on being a professional poker player. Phil did not permit the negative feedback from others annihilate his goal of being one of the strongest poker players in the world.
He started playing seriously after getting a false ID by the name of Jerome. He sharpened his skills at the poker rooms of Atlantic City. The first few years for Phil were a learning period and winning wasn’t a normal thing at the time. He became known at the 2000 WSOP where he made two final tables and came away with his 1st World Series of Poker bracelet, in a two dollar, 500 Pot-Limit Omaha match. At the closing table he defeated quite a few of the well known professionals including but not limited to "Amarillo Slim" Preston, David "Devilfish" Ulliot, and Phil Hellmuth, Jr.
He made a decision to take his skills to the successive level and moved out west to Sin City. Phil continues to play in "The Big Game" at the Bellagio with the greatest players in the world. Phil credits his achievements to dedication and an immeasurable love for the game of poker. He says that he’s learning every day and is incredibly humble about his achievements. He knows he makes blunders every single session of poker and constantly aspires to get better.
Despite the fact that Phil has come first in some big-time tournaments, he favors winning money games on a regular basis.
