NL Texas Hold’em Poker- Who is Phil Ivey?
Phil Ivey has been branded as the number one poker player in the world by most of the top-ranked pros. Phil Ivey was born in Riverside, CA and relocated to New Jersey before his first birthday. His grandpa taught Phil one cent-ante 5-Card Stud poker. From then on on, Phil was hooked on poker and wanted to discover everything he possibly could about the game. He routinely would tell his elders that he was planning on being a professional poker player. Phil didn’t let the adverse feedback from others kill his dream of becoming one of the best poker players in the world.
He began competing intently after getting a false ID with the name of Jerome. He sharpened his abilities at the casinos in Atlantic City. The first number of years for Phil were a learning opportunity and coming away with a win was not a normal outcome at the time. Phil became known at the 2000 WSOP when he achieved 2 final tables and won his first World Series of Poker bracelet, in a two dollar, five hundred Pot-Limit Omaha game. At the last table he destroyed a number of the better known professionals including "Amarillo Slim" Preston, David "Devilfish" Ulliot, and Phil Hellmuth, Jr.
Phil made a decision to take his game to the successive level and headed out west to Vegas. Phil continues to compete in in "The Big Game" at the Bellagio with the best players on the planet. Ivey credits his achievements to discipline and an eternal love for the game of poker. Phil states that he’s picking up skills every day and is quite abashed about his achievements. He knows he makes blunders every single game of poker and constantly strives to get better.
Although Phil has won some big-time tournaments, he likes destroying money games on a regular basis.
